Polestar is releasing the P2.9 Over-the-Air (OTA) software update for all existing Polestar 2 vehicles. This is the fifteenth remote software upgrade for the Polestar 2 since OTA updates began in 2020. It includes highly anticipated improvements as well as the introduction of the integrated YouTube app*, which will also be installed as standard in all new vehicles produced.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, says: “We know how much our customers look forward to over-the-air updates and I’m confident this update will be well received with its notable new features and improvements. YouTube offers the best entertainment while charging and our updated Range Assistant app provides more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style. The addition of Apple Maps to the Driver Display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2.”
A major update of the Polestar Range Assistant app makes it possible to keep track of energy consumption over the last 20, 40 or 100 kilometers. The app provides real-time information that can be used to adjust driving style to improve efficiency. A revised algorithm for the displayed estimated range in the app takes into account changes in environmental conditions and other factors that can affect efficiency.
The realistic range information is now shown in the driver display instead of the preset range projection, which is based on certified standard data.
With the P2.9 update, Apple CarPlay gets enhanced features, such as the integration of additional phone and media information on the home screen tile, the operation of calls via the steering wheel buttons, and the projection of calls and Apple Maps onto the vehicle’s driver display.
