Polda Metro Jaya ensure student demonstration which was held on Monday (11/4) today will run safely and under control.
Initially, the demonstration will be held in front of the Presidential Palace, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Central Jakarta. However, the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) finally stated that the demonstration was held at the DPR Building on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta.
“Polda Metro Jaya will maintain the security of the capital well,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E Zulpan to reporters, Sunday (10/4).
Even though there were demonstrations, said Zulpan, the police appealed to the public to continue their activities as usual.
Meanwhile, the participants of the demonstration are advised to be orderly, not to interfere with other community activities, and not to damage public facilities.
“We are in the holy month of Ramadan, let us keep the sanctity of this month full of grace with good deeds,” said Zulpan.
“Polda Metro Jaya will provide services and security for the planned demonstration on 11″ [April],” added Zulpan.

Therefore, he also reminded the security forces that freedom of expression must be properly facilitated. He admitted that he had communicated with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit and asked the police not to act repressively.
“I have called the National Police Chief directly, I ask the police not to be repressive towards demonstrations expressing opinions and attitudes,” he said.
