The events occurred in Toronto, around one in the afternoon on Thursday, May 26. According to local authorities during a press conference, several people denounced the presence of an individual armed with a rifle near a school in the east of the city.
A police officer shot the suspect, causing his death. On Thursday night, the man had not yet been identified by the local police and it was only stated that he was a young person.
Multiple schools in Toronto launched emergency protocols in the presence of the suspect in the vicinity. In addition, students were prevented from leaving campus until the alarm passed.
According to the local authorities, this incident resulted especially traumatic for students, parents and teachersafter the unfortunate shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Toronto Police Chief James Ramer said it was an isolated incident. However, he announced that patrols will be carried out in the area to reassure the neighbors.
