President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) paid attention to the emergence of online loans or loans that harm the community. At Jokowi’s direction, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered his staff to take firm action against loans that harm residents.

Jokowi touched on the issue of borrowing when he opened the 2021 OJK Virtual Innovation Day event, last Monday (11/10). The opening at the Presidential Palace was also attended by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso.

“But at the same time I also received information that many frauds and financial crimes had occurred. I heard that the lower class were deceived and ensnared in high interest rates by online loans, who were pressured in various ways to repay their loans,” he said.

Not long after, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered all his staff to take firm action against illegal loans that have harmed the public. This order was conveyed by Sigit to follow up on President Jokowi’s directives.

“The crime of illegal pinjol is very detrimental to the community so special handling steps are needed. Carry out eradication efforts with preemptive, preventive, and repressive strategies,” Sigit said in briefing the Regional Police through video conference at the National Police Headquarters as in a written statement, Tuesday (12/10). ).

The order of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was then carried out by his staff. Police raided a number of locations in various areas that became borrowed offices.

1. Central Jakarta Metro Police Raid Illegal Lodging Offices in West Jakarta

Central Jakarta Metro Police raided an illegal loan office at Ruko Sedayu Square, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. At that location the police arrested dozens of people.

“It’s true, we are still conducting an investigation,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Hengki Haryadi when contacted by detikcom, Thursday (14/10).

A total of 56 people were detained by the police at the shop. They are employees of the loan company.

2. Polda Metro Jaya Raids Illegal Lodging Office at Elite Tangerang Housing

Once in West Jakarta, the police raided an illegal online loan office in a shophouse in an elite housing estate in Tangerang City. The illegal loan office that was raided is located in Green Lake City, Ruko Crown Blok C1-7.

“It’s true, this is related to borrowing (illegal). Members are already at the location,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus when confirmed, Thursday (14/10).

PT Indo Tekno Nusantara (ITN), which was raided by the police, is engaged in debt collector services.

“Today we raided PT ITN, which is the collector, the collector,” said Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters at the location.
