Police warn: New scam with credit codes – Thuringia

Eisenach / Ilmenau – According to the police, victims were always sellers on online platforms. The perpetrators appeared as alleged buyers. During the purchase negotiations, the strangers offered to have the goods picked up by a parcel service. However, this would require insurance in advance. For this purpose, the seller should transmit the codes of prepaid cards. The goods would then be paid for in cash when they were picked up, and insurance costs would also be repaid. If they refused, the perpetrators even threatened police repression. Incidents of this kind are currently known from the Wartburg district, the Ilm district and the Gotha district. The police expressly warn against this scam, injured parties can report to their responsible police station at any time. cob
