Most Moldovans expressed their opposition to the country’s accession to NATO and its unification with Romania. These are the survey data, which was conducted by the Institute of Marketing and Surveys (IMAS) from February 16 to March 6 among 1,099 people. The customer of the research was the ruling Democratic Party, TASS .
According to the poll, if the referendum on joining the North Atlantic Alliance was held in the republic, 61% would be against such a decision, 17% would vote “for”. Another 4% would not participate in the plebiscite, and 18% refrain anyway.
Similar results showed the question of a possible vote on the union with Romania. Here 62% were against, 25% – for, 3% would not want to participate in the referendum, and 10% did not give any specific answer.
Although, according to its constitution, Moldova is a neutral country, the ruling coalition raises questions about the possible entry into NATO and unification with Romania.
