Poroshenko promised not to surrender to "imperial Moscow" for the sake of free gas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko promised not to travel to Moscow for the surrender of sovereignty for the sake of gas. He stated this during the presentation of the new chairman of the Kiev region, the words of the Ukrainian leader are posted on his official website.

“We should not allow any politicians, promising that gas, but before that it was gasoline, sugar, and even before that the bread … will be free, we will distribute. We already ate it. Free cheese – only in a mousetrap. Or in the imperial capital, in Moscow, where it was necessary to go in order to receive gas and hand over sovereignty. We will not allow a return to these times, ”he said.

On October 19, Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman announced that Ukrainians would increase gas prices by a quarter from November 1. According to the head of government, the need to raise gas prices arose because of Ukraine’s debts to international partners. Otherwise, Ukraine will be defaulted.

In total, from November 2018 to May 2020, Ukrainians will raise the price of gas three times. At the second stage, prices will be raised from May 1 to December 31, 2019, at the third – from January 1 to May 1, 2020.
