The chairman of the Democratic Party of the DPR RI, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono or Ibas, questioned President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) decision to allow the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project to be financed by the state budget. PPP considers the decision to be the impact of the current situation which is still a pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic situation has changed everything, including the fast train,” said PPP DPP chairman Achmad Baidowi to reporters on Monday (11/10/2021).
Baidowi, who is familiarly called Awiek, said the pandemic condition gave rise to a choice whether the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project would continue or stall. The APBN injection, according to Awiek, is for the project to continue.
“The choice is whether development is stalled or continued and beneficial. So the presence of the state is important to ensure infrastructure development continues,” said the member of Commission VI of the DPR RI.
The use of APBN funds, according to Awiek, needs to be monitored by the KPK and the BPK. This is so that the use of the APBN for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train can be accounted for.
“However, its use must be carried out in an accountable and transparent manner. So, it is necessary to cooperate with the KPK, as well as the BPK. So that there are no irregularities,” he added.
Previously, President Jokowi decided to finance the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train using the state budget. The chairman of the Democratic Party of the DPR RI, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono or Ibas, questioned the decision.
