The A320neos will initially fly from Düsseldorf to Málaga, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Dresden, Geneva, Hamburg, Lisbon, Lyon, Munich, Milan, Palma de Mallorca, Prague, Vienna and Zurich. After an introductory phase, the A320neo will also take off from Hamburg Airport.

The A320neo as a sustainability ambassador for #makechangefly

The Airbus A320neo is by far the most efficient and quietest short- and medium-haul jet in the world and the most visible sign of a series of more than 50 sustainability initiatives at Eurowings. With the leading technology from Airbus and CFM LEAP, the aircraft has a significantly improved environmental balance compared to previous generations: With 50 percent reduced noise emissions, up to 20 percent less kerosene consumption with equally reduced CO2 emissions and a total investment of more than 1.5 billion dollars, the new addition to the fleet is the most expensive investment project in the almost 30-year history of Eurowings.

“Together with the Lufthansa Group, we want to be at the forefront of the competition in all areas, especially when it comes to sustainability,” said Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof. The Eurowings aircraft, which was delivered brand new and has a special logo, is one of the first ambassadors for the Lufthansa Group’s recently launched, broad-based sustainability initiative, #makechangefly. It bundles the most important projects for achieving the climate goals that the Lufthansa Group has set itself: CO2 neutral by 2050.

Still in 2022: Incorporation of six more A320neo

Eurowings will receive a total of 13 A320neos, eight with 180 seats and five A321neos with 232 seats. After the commissioning of the first A320neo, six more aircraft will be flown in in 2022, and another in 2024. Eurowings will receive five Airbus A321neos in the course of 2023. The flown-in of the aircraft is part of the diverse activities and measures of Eurowings, aircraft noise and CO2 significantly reduce emissions.

Redesigned Airspace Cabin for even more passenger comfort

The luggage compartments of the new Airspace Cabin have a 40 percent larger volume and even hold 60 percent more suitcases, as these can be stowed vertically in the compartments. Another highlight is the new flexible lighting system, which, depending on the flight phase and time of day, is based on the biorhythm of the passengers and illuminates the cabin in either warm orange or cooler blue tones.
