The White House issued a statement announcing that President Joe Biden will visit Surfside this Thursday, July 1, to reach the area where a 12-story building collapsed last week.
In the letter, it was indicated that they will soon give more information regarding the president’s agenda but it was learned that he will be accompanied by the first lady Jill Biden during his stay in Florida.
The news is known on the fifth day of rescue work, when the number of fatalities already reaches 11 while the number of people to be located rises to 150.
So far, according to information from Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, at least 136 people have been found alive. Levine Cava subsequently thanked the president for his visit and his intention to meet with the families impacted by the tragedy and the support staff.
After the collapse of the apartment tower, the president called for a thorough federal investigation to find the causes that caused the incident.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki stressed at a press conference on Monday that what the federal government wants is to play a “constructive” role by providing the necessary federal resources to “get to the bottom of what happened and prevent so it doesn’t happen again in the future. “
