From Lower Bavaria to Northern Ireland: Lady sloth “Priscita” has come a long way. She was brought from the Straubinger Tiergarten to the zoo in Belfast a good three weeks ago – and has already become a minor celebrity there.
Even the “Irish News”, after all the best-selling morning newspaper in Northern Ireland, was worth a small article for the newcomer. In turn, a reader from Straubing became aware of it – and contacted us. So we asked the zoo. “Yes, it’s true,” says Ludwig Fischer, curator of the zoo and responsible for animal transport. The new sloth in Belfast is in fact “Priscita”, the youngest offspring of the Straubing sloths “El Sid” and “Juanita”.
