Produce: Cinemas are allowed to sell drinks and food in their theaters

With the aim of continuing to reactivate the national economy, the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), through Ministerial Resolution No. 00319-2021-PRODUCE, today approved the new operating protocols for movie theaters, which allow drinks and food can be consumed in these entertainment centers.

The Minister of Production, José Rogger Incio, said that this measure is launched after the recommendations of the national health authorities and the successful progress of the vaccination process in the country.

“In a joint effort with the Ministry of Health (Minsa) we have modified the operating protocols for this economic activity. We want jobs to be created and business activities to develop successfully, but without neglecting the health issue, “he said.

Essential requirements

The owner of Produce specified that the new protocol indicates that cinemas located in the provinces that have an advance from 40% of vaccination with two doses of the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 will be able to enable the consumption of food and beverages.

“Compliance with this condition will govern when the Ministry of Health (Minsa) communicates to Produce the authorized provinces,” he emphasized.

Cinemas will be able to set up rooms for vaccinated people with full doses and those who have completed the expected time for the formation of antibodies. Additionally, it is recommended to encourage the use of digital media to purchase tickets.

Finally, the minister stressed that the protocol specifies that the rooms must be kept at least 1.5 meters away from other individuals and a double mask must be used to avoid contagion.

 Currently, cinemas operate with a permitted capacity of 50%, in accordance with Supreme Decree 159-2021-PCM. They also generate around 65,000 direct jobs throughout the country.
