about us

International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an international relief organization founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein. Since then, IRC has been supporting people who have to flee from political crises, war, persecution or natural disasters. IRC has also been active in Germany since 2016 and supports people nationwide in the areas of education, economic integration, protection and participation.

One focus in the field of education is on promoting the psychosocial well-being of refugee children and young people. With the Healing-Classroomsapproach, IRC supports educational professionals in creating a safe environment for refugee children and young people and in strengthening their resilience. In order to significantly expand our educational offerings due to the increased demand caused by the war in Ukraine, we are looking for a project manager for education (m/f/d) as soon as possible. The activity can be carried out from our Berlin or Bonn office or in the home office throughout Germany.

your area of ​​responsibility

  • You are responsible for the technical management of the project and are constantly driving forward the further development of its content, in particular to adapt all measures and materials to the needs of newly arrived people from Ukraine, among other places.
  • You will lead a project team consisting of four subject specialists for education in four regions in Germany.
  • You control project-related measures in the areas of monitoring, evaluation and client participation.
  • They are in close contact with the participating school and extracurricular specialists and educational institutions in order to tailor all measures precisely.
  • You are responsible for the budget and administrative project management.
  • You will report directly to the program management for education and work closely with colleagues in the entire German Programs team.

your profile

  • You have at least five years of professional experience in the fields of education and/or humanitarian aid, ideally with a focus on education for refugees and/or further training for specialists at German schools.
  • You have several years of experience in personnel management, you are experienced in project management and enjoy working in a team.
  • You think and act based on strengths, are creative and can make decisions well.
  • You have written and oral knowledge of German and English at a minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference. Other language skills, which many of our clients speak (e.g. Ukrainian, Russian), are an advantage.
