Prokes Relaxed, Still Required to Use Care to Protect?

JAKARTA, – The government has decided to relax the implementation of health protocols (prokes) in line with the increasingly controlled conditions for handling the pandemic, as reflected in the low rate of the spread of Covid-19.

The easing of the prokes is stated in Circular Letter (SE) Number 18 of 2022 concerning Provisions for Traveling Domestic People During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic, which came into effect yesterday, Thursday (19/5/2022).

One of the main points of easing the program is that people are now allowed not to use masks in outdoor activities or open areas.

In addition, the government has also abolished the obligation to show the results of the Covid-19 test for domestic and foreign travelers who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in full doses.

Even though the prokes are relaxed, people are still required to use the PeduliLindung application when traveling within the country.

This is stated in point 2 point b of the SE Protocol No. 18 of 2022 which states that every domestic traveler (PPDN) is required to use the PeduliLindung application as a condition for traveling domestically.

In addition, in point 4 of the same section it is stated that every transportation mode operator is required to use the PeduliLindung application to check the travel requirements of each PPDN.

“The government has decided to relax the policy on wearing masks. If people are doing outdoor activities or in open areas that are not crowded with people, they are not allowed to wear masks. However, for activities in closed rooms and public transportation, you still have to wear a mask,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the transition from pandemic to endemic must also be supported by public understanding of the responsibility to maintain health and protect themselves and others.

“If we look at the future, the condition of transmission of Covid-19 cases is also getting more and more controlled, fewer and fewer people are entering the hospital, public awareness to maintain their own health is also getting higher, we can take other relaxation steps which are gradually will make our lives back to normal,” he said.
