At least four people were shot in a small demonstration in the capital of Haiti after a speech by President Jovenel Moïse, according to witnesses from The Associated Press.
Several hundred people marched on Monday afternoon from the Delmas neighborhood to the Petionville neighborhood when someone near there fired shots.
AP journalists could not see the origin of the shooting, but they saw a local journalist, a policeman and two protesters being removed from the area with apparent gunshot wounds.
Monday is the anniversary of a key battle of the Haitian revolution, and hours earlier, Moïse had rejected calls to resign. The president said he would continue trying to negotiate with the opposition.
