PS5, a new update available: here’s what changes

An update is now available on PS5, Sony’s next-gen console: it’s a minor update, but watch out for what it might hide …

Sony launched a new update for PS5, its next-generation console which, despite the shortages in stocks on a global scale that make it almost impossible to find, continues to grind very important sales. Initially rarer, the updates for the platform are becoming more common, although the “major” ones and that is with new features still arrive with the dropper. Today the Japanese house has published the update 22.01-05.10.00.23: here’s what to expect before the download.

What’s New in PS5 Update –

Similarly to the previous update, this too version 22.01-05.10.00.23 it does not involve any major novelties, at least on a superficial level. The official patch notes report that “this system software update improves system performance”, which is the classic description for minor updates for PS5 that tweak below deck elements that Sony does not want to explicitly refer to. Like the last update, the weight is just over 1GBso it shouldn’t take too long to download and install it on your console, at least if you have a fast connection.

PS4 also updates –

In these cases, it is good to note how the community will reveal if there have been any improvements or changes of any kind, sifting through the menus and starting the games under this new ‘regime’ – it has already happened in the past and it would not be new. Not that the surprises and caresses for fans in possession of a PS5 have been lacking in recent weeks: on the new generation platform, for example, VRR has just arrived, a feature available on monitor e TV HDMI 2.1 which allows you to eliminate tearing phenomena in the presence of titles with variable frame rates. Similarly to the latest round of update, PS4 is also updated to version 9.60: the update is available at a weight of about 900MB and, as for the older sister, does not introduce any significant news, at least as stated by Sony.
