The PSA group prepares the progressive restart of the Madrid Center (Villaverde) as of May 21, in a context of resumption of commercial activities. According to Eric Brochard, director of the Madrid production center, since the closure of the center due to the Covid-19 health crisis, a reinforced health protocol has been implemented and in close collaboration with the social partners. Thanks to this collective effort and after an audit held on April 16 “we can calmly resume the activity from May 21, progressively and safely”.
With the return to production of the Madrid plant, the three PSA factories in Spain resume activity after the stoppage caused by Covid-19. The automotive group (Citroën, DS, Opel, Peugeot), decided to close its factories in Europe in mid-March, including the three plants installed in Spain located in Madrid, Vigo and Zaragoza.
Each one of the Spanish factories has followed its own protocol in the face of a return to normality, and the Madrid plant is the last to resume its industrial activity. According Yann Vincent, Industrial Director of Groupe PSA“As industrial activity is driven by commercial activity, which is our second criterion, we are gradually and safely relaunching our industrial device to manufacture the cars that our customers expect. These two criteria will guide our decisions for the coming weeks and months. “
The gradual restart of production is taking place with the partial reopening of the Group’s industrial activity from May 4, taking into account the commercial context (lack of confidence, reopening of concessions and commercial situation of each model) and the gradual normalization of component supply flows.
