It was written on February 21, 2008, at 5 pm in Belgrade. It was then that the assembly began with the now-familiar slogan “Kosovo is Serbia” – Kosovo is Serbia.
Hundreds of thousands of protesters have reacted to Kosovo’s declaration of independence on February 17. At the same time, their motto recalls the claim that Russia made on the Donbas before the war, and to this day it resonates regularly in Serbian society.
For this reason too, Kosovo is now shaking. As the Croatian daily Večernji List recalls, Putin’s rhetoric strongly evokes the speech of Serbian secessionists in the 1990s.
Therefore, several analysts question whether the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine will not trigger a wave of similar imperialist intervention in other regions of the world. The case of Taiwan is often inflected.
