The Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of the company, Engineer Saad Al Kaabi, said in a press conference held in Doha today, “Qatar Petroleum has become Qatar Energy from today, with a new brand and corporate identity,” adding that it “will continue to provide the cleanest energy that the world needs, and to play its role as a partner.” A key player in finding the best solutions in the current global transition to low-carbon energy.
He explained that the company’s name change comes in response to global changes and the need to protect the planet and its environment, stressing that it will continue its increased commitment to its central role in the global transition to low carbon energy.
With regard to the expansion in the field of solar energy projects, Al Kaabi said that Qatar Energy is now expanding in this field, noting that it is currently building the largest solar power plant that will be opened next year.
He said that the company is moving forward with full force to develop the North Field by building the latest liquefied natural gas production lines, noting that it will raise its production capacity to 126 million tons annually in 2027.
He stressed that it is making efforts to protect the environment by pushing its “carbon footprint” to a minimum, indicating that this prompts it to use the latest advanced methods in the field of carbon sequestration and sequestration to isolate and sequester nine million tons of carbon dioxide annually by the end of this decade.
