Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ Next Week?

JAKARTA, Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ soon and the launch might just take place next week.

Yes, despite previous claims that the chipset could be delayed until the second half of the year, the latest rumors are circulating that the launch of this chipset might be released Friday (20/5/2022).

Collect GSM Arena on Wednesday (11/5/2022), Qualcomm is also expected to launch Snapdragon 7 generation 1.

If these rumors hold up, we can expect a barrage of announcements from smartphone makers confirming a new device with the latest Qualcomm chipset.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ (codenamed SM8475) is expected to be sourced from TSMC unlike the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which is sourced from Samsung.

The main difference between the two chipsets is expected to be in the GPU department where the new chip should get a performance boost.

CPU-wise it is expected to remain unchanged from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with one Cortex-X2 at 3 GHz, three Cortex-A710 performance units and four Cortex-A510 cores for efficiency.

Motorola is expected to be one of the first makers to use this new chip in its Edge X30 phone.

Several well-known mobile phone brands are also rumored to have been prepared to release this latest chipset from Qualcomm. (ant/sbn)
