Around 2 p.m., police officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) and those from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) searched the area after receiving a report that a drone had been observed in the area.

It was finally the agents of the prison environment who discovered and recovered the package which had been deposited inside the perimeter of the establishment. Nearly 220 grams of cannabis resin, 100 grams of dried cannabis, 160 grams of tobacco and 3 cell phones were in the package.

“During the same period of time, SPVQ patrol officers, assisted by their dog handler, located a vehicle near a wooded area,” explains Louis-Philippe Bibeau, spokesperson for the SQ.

A 24-year-old man from Longueuil and an 18-year-old woman from Verchères were on board and were arrested. The vehicle was stored for a possible search.

Questioned by investigators, the two suspects were released on a promise to appear at a later date.

They could face charges related to drug trafficking.
