Family and Integration Minister Susanne Raab (ÖVP) is traveling to Rome and the Vatican for a two-day visit today, where she will hold appointments in her area of responsibility.
Among other things, Raab will exchange views with the Vatican’s Family Dicastery with its head Gabriella Gambino and with the Italian Minister for Family Affairs Elena Bonetti. Both talks will deal with challenges for families due to the current energy crisis.
An exchange with the “Foreign Minister” and Archbishop Paul Gallagher is taking place in the Vatican, Raab’s press office announced. Here Raab wants to exchange views on the subject of the worldwide persecution of Christians and specifically on Austria’s help in building a Christian high school in Karakosch on the Nineveh Plains in Iraq. Tomorrow, Raab will also attend Pope Francis’ general audience in St. Peter’s Square.
“Families across Europe are facing major challenges right now. In Rome and in the Vatican, I want to discuss the current situation and measures to support families with the responsible ministers. In addition, I will exchange views on the worldwide persecution of Christians with representatives of the Vatican in bilateral meetings and also talk about Austria’s commitment here,” Raab said in a press release.
