The Spanish Rafael Nadal, number two in the ranking and winner of 22 Grand Slams, he was first voted the fan favorite tennis player at the 2022 ATP Awards.
This prize was dominated consecutively by the Swiss Roger Federer for 19 years (since 2003). Nevertheless, on this occasion “His Majesty”, who withdrew, could not participate, since they are only considered active tennis players in the fan vote, which allowed Nadal to win the award.
“I am very happy to receive this award. I cannot thank the people enough not only for this award, but for the support and encouragement I receive in every corner of the world. It means everything to me and I am really looking forward to 2023 and that we share great moments again”, declared Nadal.
In addition to Nadal, the Australians were also awarded Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis, chosen as the fan favorite duo in the 2022 season.
