High+Low – Franz Furrer-Münch, Luca Martin and Arthur Lourié
The length of a string generally determines its pitch, but this can hardly ever be experienced as physically as in our concert. Franz Furrer-Münch, the great Swiss “cartographer” among composers (many of his scores are graphic works of art) writes with “instants modifiées” a wonderfully delicate work of profound tones. On the other hand, Luca Martin’s new work concentrates entirely on three violins, as if one wanted to study the finely carved vaulted ceiling of a cathedral. At the end, the great “Concerto da Camera” by Arthur Lourié, the Russian avant-gardist who developed into a melodist, will be heard.
