LONDON – An English safari park says a rare Amur tiger was killed in combat with two other tigers.

Longleat Safari Park said Wednesday that Tiger Shouri died in a fight on Tuesday after entering an enclosure where two mating tigers were held.

Officials say an investigation has been initiated to determine how she managed to get through an unlocked door into the case. Shouri had spent 12 of her 13 years in the park.

The park, located 100 miles west of London, was not open to the public at the time.

Shouri's death came four days after the death of a Sumatran tiger by a future colleague at the London Zoo.

Amurtiger are an endangered species, of which only 500 are left in the wild.
