Samsung will reduce its smartphone production in 2022 by 30 million units. That’s according to a South Korean publication.
The 30 million units will be reduced from the three categories of smartphones: premium, mid-range and low-cost. From an estimated 310 million units by 2022, Samsung is heading for 280 million units. In Q1 2022, Samsung reached a record number of deliveries – 73.7 million units.
Reasons for this measure:
- inflation affecting consumer spending;
- component crisis;
- the war in Ukraine.
Samsung had a really good first quarter of 2022. Serious sales were recorded for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but also for the 5G entry models. They also did well on tablets, smartwatches and wireless headphones.
