Ad Roskam does not exactly know the number by heart, but the technical director of the Athletics Union is roughly estimated at forty athletes who have qualified for the European Indoor Championships, from 5 to 7 March in Torun, Poland. More than thirty receive a starting permit.
“The size of the team is never a goal, it is more important that there is a lot of quality in it. New names appear and break through. I expect a lot of finals”, said Roskam after the NK indoor.
The technical numbers lag a bit behind the running numbers, but all in all, Roskam sees progress across the board. “We are in such a good position because years of investment by individual athletes pay off and because as a union we have built a system in which talents can develop and athletes can grow.”
