Reese Witherspoon named richest American actress in 2023 by Forbes

She is one of the most popular American actresses, and now the richest. At 47, Reese Witherspoon was crowned with this title, announces the magazine « Forbes »on June 1, in its ranking of American self-made women.

She comes in at the ninth position among the richest female celebrities in the United States. The gold medal is awarded to Oprah Winfrey with $2.5 billion, followed by Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner, Madonna, Beyoncé, Celine Dion et Judy Sheindlin.

Actress, but also producer

In 2023, the fortune of Reese Witherspoon is estimated at 440 million dollars (409 million euros). According to “Forbes”, most of his wealth comes from the sale, two years ago, of a large part of his production company Hello Sunshine, created in 2016, for the sum of 900 million dollars. To date, the actress still owns 18% of the shares.

In addition to her work as an actress, the American has been involved in the production of films (“Gone Girl”, “On the run”) and especially series for several years. This is the case of “Big Little Lies”, “Little Fires Everywhere” and “The Morning Show” in which she played, but also other shows, like “The last thing he said” (Apple TV+), with Jennifer Garner in the lead role, and “Daisy Jones & The Six” (Prime Video).

The economic magazine also recalls that Reese Witherspoon received 20 million dollars for ten episodes of “The Morning Show”. She will still be showing the third season of the series, alongside Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hammexpected on Apple TV+ in October.
