Pamela Rendi-Wagner also wants to run as president again at the next party congress. She thinks little of the course correction in security policy suggested by Burgenland’s country chief Doskozil.
SPÖ federal party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner leaves the leadership debate in the SPÖ that arises after the Burgenland election cold. She thinks little of a course correction in security policy suggested by the regional governor and election winner Hans Peter Doskozil, as she emphasized on Monday in “ZiB 2”. Rendi-Wagner wants to run again as a chairwoman at the next party congress.
Doskozil had proposed again on the evening of the election to rethink the SPÖ’s line, for example in preventive detention. For Rendi-Wagner this is out of the question, there would be no such restriction of freedom rights with social democracy, she emphasized. A ban on headscarves in schools still considers them purely symbolic, which is too little to make serious integration policies.
The SPÖ leader was also unimpressed by Doskozil’s suggestion that one would have to talk about who the next top candidate should be before the upcoming National Council election. Rendi-Wagner does not want to “give up responsibility at the first opportunity” and face the election again at the next party congress. The content is about reaching all voters, especially with social issues.
