Report: Although Audi wanted to double sponsorship money: BMW is new shareholder at Bayern Munich

BMW becomes exclusive car partner of Bayern Munich. According to a report from "Bild am Sonntag", the football club has already issued a letter of intent according to which the Munich car maker will replace Audi by 2025 at the latest. Accordingly, BMW will buy the shares of the rival and annually pay a mid-double-digit million amount as sponsorship.

As "Bild am Sonntag" further reported, Bayern Munich is currently trying to accelerate the change to BMW. After the request of the football club Audi should already be replaced in mid-2019. So far, however, the Ingolstadt put across, insist on their contract until 2025th Actually, a contract extension of Audi was planned for the year 2030. The automaker wanted to double its previous sponsorship to around 60 million euros. VW CEO and Audi supervisory board boss Herbert Diess had already agreed on it with Bayern Board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. However, Bayern have now decided for BMW.
