Report: Sam Darnold has a significant foot sprain and does not play bills

The New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is said to be sitting on the bench, but not for the reasons that people speculated about this week.

Mehta added that the team is not optimistic Darnold will also be ready after the team's 11th week's farewell match against the Patriots.

Josh McCown will probably get the start when Darnold sits down. It may not be the worst idea to let the rookie quarterback free his mind.

Sam Darnold's injury was unknown on Sunday

It will be interesting to see when Darnold got hurt. It could explain some of his battles last week against the dolphins. In a teleconference with reporters on Monday, Jets coach Todd Bowles said he knew no injury to Darnold, and Darnold said he felt "alright."

Darnold leads the NFL with 14 interceptions and had some extreme newcomers. After intercepting four interceptions in Miami, there were questions as to whether he would go to the bank. Jets coach Todd Bowles said he does not consider that.

There seems to be no choice this week. Darnold will probably watch McCown from the sideline, maybe for several games. It could end up being the best.
