Bars and restaurants lost approximately R$ 25 million this Monday (4) with the drop of about 7 hours of WhatsApp, according to abrasel (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants).

The entity claims that, during the pandemic, establishments had to adhere to the message exchange tool to guarantee sales. Today, around 30% of home deliveries result from orders placed by WhatsApp.

“It was an operational tragedy. This drop disorganized not only restaurant delivery orders, but also customer feedback and contact with bikers, said the president of Abrasel to Veja.

The entity is studying alternative channels to deal with a possible new failure.
