Reviled ex-elite soldier hunts moderate Republicans, Facebook takes controversial video offline

Republican Eric Greitens wants to hunt for moderate party members. So says the Missouri senator in a campaign video in which he calls for a hunting license to hunt “Rino’s”. Those are Republicans in name only, an old nickname for Republicans who would rule too Democratic, which became popular again among Trump supporters. Facebook has now taken the video offline.

Greitens comes with the video after several shootings have taken place in the US in a short period of time and US gun laws are once again under discussion. Several dignitaries were also threatened with death. A man who shot and killed a retired Wisconsin judge had a list of several Republican politicians on him. Adam Kinzinger, one of two Republicans on the Capitol Committee, received a letter threatening his family and his execution.

The fact that Trump has not (yet) expressed his support for Greitens’ candidacy may also have to do with the accusations of his ex-wife Sheena. He filed a complaint with the police in March because Greitens allegedly used violence against her and their children. The politician denies the allegations, but has already been called on to withdraw his candidacy if the facts are proven.

As a former member of the Navy Seals, the elite unit of the US military, Greitens knows how to handle weapons. However, the politician has also won it with his ex-colleagues. They do not accept that Greitens violates their code of honor by misusing the name of the unit (again in this video) to promote themselves.
