Dark Saturday afternoon in the waters of the Rhône river. Two young men, who bathed in separate places in the department, were victims of drowning, less than two hours apart.
The first drama took place in Irigny, where the disappearance of a teenager was reported around 3:40 p.m. Immediately, around thirty firefighters were dispatched to the scene (divers, surface rescuers, canine teams) , as well as the Samu and the Dragon 69 civil security helicopter.
The victim was fished out by a firefighter, treatment immediately started, but the young man could not be revived. His death was pronounced on the spot by the medical team.
Less than two hours later, around 5:30 p.m., firefighters were alerted to the disappearance of another 17-year-old young man while swimming in the Rhône, this time at the leisure center by Condrieu.
The victim was recovered by divers. Around 7 p.m., she was taken care of by a medical team from Samu Isérois. Neither the firefighters nor the gendarmes of the Rhône had at this time details on the state of health of the teenager.
