The next sensation is missing. The SV Ried throws the sports club away with 2:0 from the ÖFB-Cup and moves into the semi-finals.
The game starts with a top chance for the home side. Mario Vucenovic hit the crossbar in the first minute of the game. However, the goal would not have counted due to an offside position.
After a phase of scanning, the guests from Upper Austria have more of the game. The Innviertler are particularly dangerous on the left side, where Leo Mikic acts. Captain Stefan Nutz creates a good chance with a header just wide of the goal (20′).
However, both teams are struggling with the conditions. The deep lawn does not allow for quick combination play, the game is rather dominated by duels. So it goes goalless in the cabins.
Sticking point shortly after the break
After the break, Ried stays on the trigger and also takes the lead. WSC player Martin Pajaczkowski with a tackle in the penalty area, which does not fully hit Rieder Roko Jurisic.
However, referee Walter Altmann sticks to his decision even after a VAR check. New signing Christoph Lang then converted bone-dry to make it 1-0 from the visitors’ point of view (51st). Just a few moments later, the WSC weakened itself with a yellow-red card for Luka Gusic (52nd).
Ried doesn’t really push for the second goal, but the sports club doesn’t have any convincing chances either. Rieds Mikic made it 2-0 with around ten minutes left (79′).
Substitute Seifedin Chabbi made it 3-0 in added time, but the goal didn’t count due to being offside. It stays at 2:0 and Ried moves confidently into the cup semi-finals.
