Rodez in the sights of a large pimping network

A team from the Montpellier judicial police raided a building on Avenue Victor-Hugo on Monday in search of Brazilian prostitutes belonging to a vast network.

A major pimping network, most of whose members are of Brazilian origin, was dismantled this week in several cities in the south of France and in Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes), leading to several arrests, we learned. this Thursday with AFP. This network, which had about thirty prostitutes as well as about fifteen pimps, had been operating for five years on the national territory, according to a source close to the investigation. Thirteen people were arrested Monday after an investigation opened in September 2020 following an anonymous letter.

“White cabbage” in Rodez

That same Monday, a team dispatched from the Montpellier judicial police intervened in Rodez as part of this crackdown. At dawn, investigators invested a building on Avenue Victor-Hugo in which several prostitutes suspected of belonging to this network “have been renting an apartment for several years”, we were entrusted. But the investigators made “white cabbage”, as we say in the jargon. No prostitute was there and no audition took place.

“The girls were recruited locally or in Brazil and Spain”, indicated a source close to the investigation carried out by the PJ of Marseilles, specifying that the pimps “were paid on apartment rentals”, about thirty in total, billed between 250 euros to 300 euros per week and per prostitute. The pimps also took care of posting advertisements on the Internet with photos that allowed customers to come into contact with prostitutes. “They answered phone calls and set up appointments” for prostitutes, supplemented the source. Furthermore, “they managed the logistics to pick up the girls at the airport or at the train station” and install them in the apartments.

Prostitutes “taxed” for all services provided

This rapidly expanding network would have first developed in several cities of Bouches-du-Rhône (Marseille, Martigues, Vitrolles, Fos-sur-Mer, Port-de-Bouc), Var (Fréjus) before reaching the Aveyron and Rodez. “It was an important source of profit for the heads of the network, a source familiar with the matter told CNEWS, since they could leave up to fifteen women in an apartment, forcing them to sleep on mattresses on the floor. The pimps then took additional income by ‘taxing’ each of the services provided to these women: 20 euros per customer for the switchboard that made the appointments for the passes, a commission on travel, security, logistics etc. “

Among the thirteen people arrested, eight were put in examination of the chief of aggravated pimping in an organized gang. IThey were presented this Thursday to a magistrate who must determine the possible legal consequences concerning them. During the searches, the investigators seized 20,000 euros and they estimate at 150,000 euros the amount of sums transferred to Spain and Brazil for five years …
