The son of actress Mia Farrow and filmmaker Woody Allen, Ronan Farrow is a 31-year-old fame of American journalism for helping to reveal in 2017 the actions of the Hollywood producer.
As a child, he was only a little blond head, drowned between his brothers and sisters, eclipsed by the celebrity of his parents. The son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen was then called Satchel, in tribute to a baseball player that his father loved. Since Ronan Farrow has done more than just change his name – he uses his middle name – he has become a star of journalism in the United States through the Weinstein affair.
It was he who, in October 2017, published in the New Yorker a long investigation into the actions of the Hollywood producer. The reverberation will be such that its revelations will trigger in the wake of the surge #metoo. An investigation for which he received, in April 2018 (with two journalists from New York Times, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who first published an investigation on Harvey Weinstein), the Pulitzer Prize in the category "public service journalism".
At 31, he is at the top of American journalism. To the point of appearing as a Bob Woodward 2010 years, the name of this other star of journalism who, at the same age, triggered the case of Watergate. Completely identified about her, Farrow became the avenger of harassed women, the gravedigger of patriarchy, and even "The prince who set the castle on fire" as was displayed, at its "one", the Hollywood Reporter in January 2018.
From Weinstein to diplomacy
At the time when the benchmark magazine of the entertainment industry was in US kiosks appeared War on Peace, his first book, now translated into French (Peace at war, ed. Calmann-Levy). This dive of more than three hundred pages behind the scenes of US foreign policy has nothing to do with Harvey Weinstein.
In this book, Ronan Farrow discusses the major diplomatic crises of the last thirty years, studying the role of great diplomats, such as Henry Kissinger or Madeleine Albright, as well as the consequences of successive renunciations and the effects of budget cuts. As if the son of movie stars wanted to show that he was not only looking in his garden.
In reality, Peace at war was written at the same time that he was working on the producer. And is the result of several years of experience in Washington, DC, as a "Responsible for relations with NGOs on development and human rights", then to the State Department under Hillary Clinton's orders as "Director of Global Youth Issues".
