A member of the Pussy Riot who had invaded the field during the final of the World Cup-2018 was hospitalized in serious condition in Moscow, said Thursday another member of the Russian protest group, saying not to exclude poisoning.

According to Veronika Nikulchina, Piotr Verzilov began to feel bad Tuesday night, a few hours after a lawsuit she was appearing for disobeying a police officer and to whom he had gone to support her.

"In the evening, he started to feel bad, he lost his sight, his vision darkened, we put it on the count of tiredness but it got worse then, he could not talk anymore, he did not recognize me, "said Veronika Nikulchina, who is also his companion, on Echo Moskvy radio.

"I do not exclude the possibility that there was an outside intervention," she added, adding that it was necessary to wait for the results of the medical examinations.

According to Veronika Nikulchina, Piotr Verzilov had no medical history of this type and had not used drugs or alcohol.

First hospitalized in the toxicological resuscitation department of a hospital in north-east Moscow, he was transferred Thursday in intensive care in another famous hospital, the Sklifossovsky Institute. An employee of this establishment confirmed on the phone to AFP that he was "in serious condition” in a service where poisoning cases are treated.

"Our brother, friend and comrade Piotr Verzilov is in intensive care, his life is in danger and we think he has been poisoned," Pussy Riot told his Twitter account.

Veronika Nikulchina and Piotr Verzilov, who also appeared this week accused of disobeying a police officer, are among the four members of the Pussy Riot group who had entered the field during the World Cup final. football, wearing police uniforms.

They had been sentenced to 15 days in prison for this intrusion.

Piotr Verzilov is the founder of the website MediaZona, which reports on the trials of human rights defenders.

Recently, he was also working on a film with Alexander Rastorguyev, who was killed in August with two other journalists in the Central African Republic where they were investigating the presence of Russian mercenaries in that country.
