Russian and US Chiefs of Staff Speak on “International Security Issues”

The Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valeri Guerasimov, and the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley, had a telephone conversation on Tuesday in which they addressed “international security issues.”

The conversation has been confirmed by the Russian Defense Ministry in a brief statement collected by the Sputnik news agency.

Guerasimov and Milley already met on September 22 in Finland, where they debated reducing the risk of incidents during military activities, while the US media pointed out that both soldiers addressed a proposal launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin for the US Army use Russian military bases in Central Asia.

This Tuesday, during a telematic meeting with the head of China’s military department, Colonel General Wei Fenghe, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu denounced a “significant” increase in the actions of the United States Air Force in Russian borders.

“During the past month, there have been about 30 departures to the borders of the Russian federation, which is 2.5 times more than in the corresponding period last year,” said Shoigu.
