Russian director Cantemir Balagov received an award at the Cannes Film Festival

At the Cannes Film Festival, Cantemir Balagov was awarded as the best director in the Special Look program for the film Dilda. Reports about it RIA News.

The prize for Balagov was received by producer Alexander Rodnyansky, since he did not have time to arrive at the awards ceremony.

“Kantemir is only 27, and he is a student of the great director Alexander Sokurov. I know what Cantemir would say if I were on this stage. He would thank his teacher, team and festival for choosing his picture, ”said Rodnyansky.

The film tells about two girls who are returning from the front to the post-war Leningrad. The plot of the picture is partly based on the book “The war has no female face” by Svetlana Alexievich.
