TASS, October 14. Russian fighter of mixed style (MMA) Anatoly Tokov defeated compatriot Alexander Shlemenko at the Bellator 208 tournament, which takes place in New York.
At the end of the three rounds, all the judges gave preference to Tokov.
Tokov made his debut in the organization at the Bellator 172 tournament in February 2017, having won by American Francisco Frans by technical knockout. In May of this year, Serbian Vladimir Filipovich defeated Russian at the Bellator 200 tournament with a painful hold. In total, 28-year-old Tokova has 27 victories (21 ahead of schedule) and two losses in MMA.
34-year-old Shlemenko is an ex-Bellator middleweight champion. For the Russians, this fight was the final contract with the organization. He had previously declared a desire to leave Bellator. On account of Shlemenko 56 wins (40 – ahead of schedule) in mixed martial arts and 12 losses.
Shlemenko was defeated in the last three fights. In October 2017 at the Bellator 185 tournament, he lost to Dutchman Gegard Musashi by unanimous decision, which caused much controversy. Shlemenko subsequently wanted to challenge the decision of the judges, but he was denied that. In early June of this year, the Russian lost to Brazilian Bruno Silva in the framework of the M-1 organization, for the first time since 2009, he lost by knockout.
The main battle of the tournament will be the Russian player Fedor Emelianenko and American Cheyla Sonnen in the semi-final of the Bellator Grand Prix.
