Hanover 96 brings Mike Frantz from Freiburg: “I’m really up for it”

Mike Frantz, a professional soccer player from Saarbrücken, is changing clubs after six years. Instead of in red and white for Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, he will in future play for the “Reds”, as fans call second division Hannover 96.

Hanover (AP) – Second division soccer team Hannover 96 has signed midfielder Mike Frantz from Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. The 33-year-old signed a two-year contract with the sixth in the previous season until June 30, 2022, the Lower Saxony announced on Wednesday.

Frantz comes with the experience of 228 missions in the Bundesliga, since the 2018/19 season he has been wearing the captain’s armband in Freiburg. He also played 47 games in the 2nd Bundesliga.

“I’m really up for the task here and have a very good feeling,” said Frantz. “I’ve climbed twice – in Nuremberg and in Freiburg. I want to do that here at 96 too. Of course I also know that there is a lot involved. A lot of little things have to fit, and the biggest factor for success in my career has always been team cohesion. ”

Hanover’s sports director Gerhard Zuber praised the newcomer. “Mike is a seasoned professional who will do us good on the pitch as well as in the cabin. He has seen a lot in his long career and will ensure stability in our team with all his experience, even in critical situations, said Zuber.
