The Breton lighthouse Saïd Ben Driss (2.07 m, 35 years old) will no longer illuminate the Colette-Besson room. Rennes announced in a press release on Monday, June 28 that the pivot will not be part of the workforce for the 2021-2022 season. Arrived in 2009, this rough pivot with a nice touch spent twelve years at URB, a record in the history of the club. Moved by this decision, Ben Driss wanted to salute his heart club.
“ I made a lot of great encounters, friends with whom I will keep links. The URB ecosystem is a real family: managers, volunteers, medical staff, partners, people we get used to seeing regularly. In 12 years, I haven’t gained any centimeters, but I have grown humanly and started a family that has grown to the rhythm of the URB. It’s super important that they go through this with me. It is with great sadness that I leave the URB. I would have liked to end my career in Rennes. ”
Passed through Cholet before arriving in Ile-et-Vilaine, Ben Driss had four climbs with the URB, including two consecutive (N2 in 2012 and N1 in 2013). This season, he was still 7.6 points with 46.8% success on shots, 3.4 rebounds for 7.1 evaluation in 18 minutes of play.
The decision was taken, not without emotion, Saïd Ben Driss will not be retained in the NM1 workforce of the URB. It’s a great and beautiful chapter that comes to an end, the longest in the history of the club and the longest in Saïd’s career as well.https: //t.co/1tGmkUp6rc pic.twitter.com/YGFkl6VQNm
