Wels is hot for the revenge
After a roughly 2-month break in the league, due to the large Middle East hub in Qatar at the end of February / beginning of March and the subsequent Olympic qualification, also in the Sheikdom of Qatar, the current league leader in the domestic Bundesliga, SPG Walter Wels, on the weekend of April 9th to 11th in the home straight of the Bundesliga basic round. The people of the trade fair, who are already in the semi-finals four rounds before the end, want to score the necessary points this weekend so that they can no longer be pushed out of the top of the table.

This weekend starts with the home game against the Oberwart team on Friday, April 9th, starting at 6 p.m. In the case of Burgenland, who clearly lost 4-0 at home to leaders Wels in autumn, the game in Wels also has the fact that Matthias Habesohn, who has been the Austrian men’s national coach for a few weeks, is missing a player who is currently in doubles is always a bank to his brother Dominik Habesohn. According to the paper form, the Welsers can clearly be seen in the role of favorites in this game, although of course so-called mandatory victories must first be brought in a dry cloth, according to Wels coach David Huber. With a win against Oberwarter, the Welsern can no longer take the lead in the table and thus place 1 after the regular round. This is not without significance for the upcoming semi-finals. After a hopefully successful start to the weekend, the hit will be on the program on Sunday against the team from Stockerau. The game starts on April 11th at 3 p.m., unfortunately due to the still existing Corona regulations, the game must take place with the public excluded.

The Walter Mannen still have an outstanding bill to settle with Stockerau. At the end of October, the locals at the Alte Au sports center in Stockerau had to admit defeat 2: 4. This was the only defeat of the current league leaders from Wels in the current season. At the game at that time, the Welsers did not have the necessary ounce of luck in decisive phases, whereby they also contributed a lot to the fact that Stockerau defeated Wels at home for the third time in a row. Andreas Levenko, actually a bank for the Welser in autumn, unfortunately had a pitch-black day that day and lost his two individual games against the Austro-Chinese and old master Chen Weixing as well as against the young talent Maciej Kolodziejcyk from Stockerau in each case in the decisive set. In any case, I assume that the team wants to eradicate what I consider to be an unnecessary gap in our hall and in the last more than 10 years we have never lost out to the same team twice in a basic round, according to Wels President Bernhard Humer .

Additional motivation for his players should also be the fact that the busy Wels President celebrates his 54th birthday the day before, namely April 10, 2021. I assume that the team will give me a present in the form of a victory against the team from Stockerau. After the game we can, of course, strictly observe all Covid rules, toast the victory with a glass of sparkling wine, says Humer.
