Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 | LetsGoDigital

First press images of the Galaxy Watch 4 appear online. This will be the first-ever Samsung smartwatch to run on the new Wear OS x Tizen OS.

Two new smartwatches from Samsung are expected in August; the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Watch Active 4. Both smartwatches will run on the new Wear OS x Tizen OS operating system. Last week the first official press images of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 already appeared online, the first images of the Galaxy Watch 4 are now also available.

Remarkably enough, the two watches are so similar that the online question has arisen; are there two smartwatches on the way? Last month, however, a registration surfaced of a Korean provider, in which both models were indeed mentioned – the exact retail name is, however, still unknown. The ‘Watch 4’ will receive model numbers SM-R885N (41mm) and SM-R895N (45mm) and the ‘Watch Active 4’ will be marketed under the names SM-R865N (39mm) and SM-R875N (43mm).

The official press images have been published on the 91Mobiles website. Unfortunately, this website has a habit of incorporating its logo into the images in a rather grand way, and the resolution is also rather mediocre. Nevertheless, the images give a first impression of the expected Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. According to 91Mobiles, only a Watch4 is expected and therefore no Active variant. In terms of design, the smartwatch will be a mix of the Galaxy Watch 3 and the two years older Watch Active 2.

The new Watch will have a round watch case. Two sizes are again expected, a small ladies model (41mm) and a slightly larger men’s watch (45mm). The design will receive a clear upgrade, with the wider watch band most eye-catching. Furthermore, the buttons seem to have a slightly different shape, no crown is visible.

Multiple colors are expected, including black, silver, green and beige. In addition, it is visible in the images that a red and yellow watch strap will also appear. The watch case will also be available in different colours; black, silver and rose gold. Samsung will probably release both a stainless steel variant and a titanium version.

Furthermore, it is expected that the watch will receive a 5 ATM rating and a MIL-STD 810G certificate, which means that the Galaxy Watch 4 is dust and waterproof as well as shock resistant. The smartwatch will also have built-in GPS. Finally, Gorilla Glass DX+ is applied to keep the screen free from scratches. Of course, the Samsung Watch 4 will be equipped with various sensors that make it possible to monitor your health, follow training sessions and of course monitor your sleep.

The new watch is said to be powered by a 5nm chipset. In addition, the new Wear Tizen OS is expected to have a positive impact on battery consumption. Details about the battery are still unknown. It is clear that the smartwatch will support wireless charging and that no charger is included in the sales package. Samsung already started this trend at the beginning of this year, with the introduction of the Galaxy S21 series.

It remains unclear when the new Galaxy smartwatch will be released. The Galaxy MWC 2021 Virtual Event will take place next Monday, according to 91Mobiles, Samsung will officially announce the new watch at that time. However, it is certainly not inconceivable that we will have to be patient a little longer, in August a large Unpacked event will be set up, during this event various Galaxy products are expected.
