In the mail, the criminals claim that the Volksbank customer’s account has to be switched to the latest security system. This is due to the current “regulations”. The conversion should take place via a link within the received e-mail. The victim is supposed to click on this to perform the conversion. However, this is just a scam attempt to get sensitive information.
The phishing attempt can be recognized by the impersonal form of address and the many spelling mistakes. The sender does not use umlauts. This suggests that the fraudsters are based abroad and do not use a German keyboard. The email should be moved to the spam folder unanswered.
