In more than 90 concerts, the festival will focus on the variety of musical styles in the British capital across all genres and styles, said Kuhnt. In addition, numerous internationally acclaimed stars and orchestras are scheduled to perform again in the summer of 2023. A total of 198 concerts as well as five “music festivals in the country” and two children’s music festivals are planned in 113 venues this year. The festival will open on July 1st and 2nd in Lübeck with the oratorio “Elias” by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
This year’s artist portrait is dedicated to the South African-born violinist Daniel Hope. In 50 events he will present a program ranging from Irish folk music to contemporary works, said Kuhnt.
The budget approved by the Board of Trustees amounts to around 12 million euros, of which the state of Schleswig-Holstein is responsible for a good 1.2 million euros.
