Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Students from Alsace are allowed to cross the border again from Monday to school in Germany. The Presidium of Freiburg announced on Thursday that the Alsatian authorities had given the green light to this plan. Schoolchildren and school buses could leave and enter the German-French border crossings. This is important because the first schools in Baden-Württemberg are due to start operating again in May. According to this, pupils from France primarily benefit from the regulation, who attend the German-French high school (DFG) in Freiburg and have the written Abitur examination there at the end of May.
Since the start of border controls for the corona virus in March, students have been unable to travel across the border. To cross the border, they now need a pass, which commuters, for example, can also get.
