Ten Security Council members voted for the text. China, India, Brazil and Gabon abstained.

Western representatives see it as a success that no other country apart from Russia voted against the draft resolution. The abstention of China, which did not condemn the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, was considered particularly important.

The text calls on all states not to recognize any changes in Ukraine’s borders. The resolution is now going to the UN General Assembly, where there is no right of veto.
