According to the registry of seizures carried out by the Secretariat of National Defense of which it has a copy MILLENNIUM, the institution carried out 136 operations in Acaponeta, Ahuacatlán, Amatlán de las Cañas, Del Nayar, Huajicori, Ixtlán del Río, La Yesca, Ruiz, Tecuala and Tepic.
Of the 136 seizures, 102 focused on La Yesca, controlled by the CJNG. Most of the municipalities are located in the mountains, on the border with the states of Jalisco and Sinaloa.

It is adjacent to the municipalities of Tequila, Jalisco, as well as Nayar, a municipality of Nayarit that connects the states of Zacatecas and Durango, the latter controlled by the Sinaloa cartel.
According to the documents consulted by MILLENNIUM, between December 1 and 16, five seizures were made; in 2016 there were 116; while, between January 1 and February 18, 2018 there were 15.
Local press reports state that during this period the displacement of indigenous communities in the mountains that opposed the production of marijuana or poppies imposed by the cartels was documented.

Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda He was captured on October 15 at the Los Angeles, California airport, based on an arrest warrant issued by a New York judge at the request of prosecutors Michael P. Robotti, Craig R. Heeren y Ryan C. Harris of the Eastern District of New York, the same ones who requested the capture of Edgar Veytia, a former Nayarit prosecutor, and Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.
The General is charged with the crimes of international conspiracy for the manufacture and distribution of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as money laundering. In case of being found guilty, he can reach a sentence of 10 years in prison to life imprisonment.
